Winterland

Happy New Year everyone! Hope you had a lovely holiday season and also saw some winter weather.

While we didn’t get any snow, we were lucky enough to have some frosty mornings, on which the world around us was
transformed into a magically glittering wonderland.

On top of this some bright sunshine, and we had a glimpse of a perfect winter getaway right on our doorstep.

There is no way I can stay indoors on a holiday morning like this. So, out you come, my dear family, there are no excuses, get your boots, scarfs and hats on and off we go…

Yes, the children may grumble, and yes, it can be hard work to get us all out of the house, but nobody has ever complained afterwards – appreciating the rare treat we had (especially as the shimmering bright starts already melting away by the time we reach home again).

Fabulous winter world! We all like ‘collecting sun beams’ (which means to stop walking for a moment, close your eyes, and let the sun warm your face), and then there are the frozen puddles! Sliding on them, crashing through them, collecting ice fragments… they are a source of endless joy!

Frosty mornings –so invigorating, yet such a rare treasure round here, hopefully we’ll see a few more of them…
